Laura Pleasants of Kylesa, 5/12/13 at Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL.
Surprisingly small in person. Doesn’t look much taller than my 5’3 self.
Laura is in fact quite tiny. The first time I saw Kylesa live, I thought she’d be taller, too. She barely reaches my shoulder.
Kylesa will release Ultraviolet on May 28th via Season of Mist. The record, which follows 2010âs Spiral Shadow, offers a darker, more immersive take on the bandâs sludgy rock-metal, which on Ultraviolet includes layered keyboards and other newly-minted âblips and drifts.â The album purports to be the Savannah groupâs âdarkest, most atmospheric record to date.â
What better way to start my morning than with news that Kylesa’s forthcoming album Ultraviolet is streaming on Pitchfork Advance! This is definitely an album that I’ve been looking forward to; if you’re into that southern-sludgy-prog-hard-rock/metal goodness, than Klyesa is for you! Now, a word of warning, Pitchfork Advance still needs to get it’s act together and get a pausing feature. As it stands you can only stop in the middle of the song, and start it over from the beginning of that song. I know, I know: first world problem.
Hello followers! Fuck Yeah Kylesa is currently in need of blog moderators. Due to limited internet access, I am struggling to keep this blog active and current. That’s why I’m seeking 1 - 2 mods who can post NEW, RELEVANT CONTENT like breaking news, high-res concert photos, videos, etc. I am still the admin and will post when I can, so don’t worry about that.
If interested, say so in a PM here:
Thanks in advance!

Younger, crustier Laura.
“We’re Taking This” - another new Ultraviolet track! Just sounds evil, crusty, and swampy as hell. What do you think?
