+ Last Saturday I saw Neurosis live for the first time, and Laura was there as well! We got to hang out for a bit after the show, and she has some news for fans: the new Kylesa album has been completed, and it will likely come out in April! Are you excited, because I am!
Sorry the pics are so blurry, by the way. I had my camera on the wrong setting and it made things look like shitty instagram shots. Ugh…but yeah, that’s me, Laura, Mel from Royal Thunder, and some guy whose name escapes me. Fun times :)

+ codeaires:

The Queen Jellyfish herself, Laura Pleasants, is on the cover of the August 2012 issue of Decibel, along with Mlny Parsonz of Royal Thunder and Cretin’s Marissa Martinez (repping for trans metal-heads everywhere!). This issue is reportedly going to cover feminist aspects of the Metal underground and examine women’s roles in metal overall. There’s also going to be an exclusive Electric Wizard song included in the form of a flexi-disc in honor of Liz Buckingham, the godmother of sludge/doom riffage.
I’m probably going to pre-order this issue, because this is a really big deal that a mainstream magazine is taking notice of metal’s riot grrrl uprising, especially within the sludge/stoner/doom metal scene, which as birthed a new sort of female empowerment in itself. You can pre-order your own copy HERE or just wait until it hits store shelves near you…but I wouldn’t wait :)
